BELDEN 3107A 2 PAIR MODBUS

Belden 3107A is a heavy-duty, two-pair shielded twisted pair cable designed for industrial RS-485 and Modbus networks. Utilizing larger 22 AWG conductors and ruggedized jacketing, it provides enhanced signal transmission over long distances and superior protection against industrial environmental hazards such as oil exposure and physical damage in cable trays.

Product Description

3107A is a robust, "industrial-grade" evolution of the 9842. It is engineered for facilities where environmental durability is as critical as data throughput. The two-pair configuration allows for multiple data channels or redundant signal paths in demanding automated environments.

Key Technical Specifications
Conductor Construction: Two pairs of 22 AWG (7x30) stranded tinned copper conductors. The 22 AWG gauge offers lower signal attenuation compared to 24 AWG, making it an excellent choice for extended cable runs.

Dielectric/Insulation: High-quality Polyethylene (PE) insulation ensures excellent dielectric properties and consistent performance across high-speed data frequencies.

Dual-Layer Shielding:

Beldfoil® Shield: 100% coverage aluminum/polyester foil to block high-frequency RFI.

Tinned Copper Braid: 65% coverage tinned copper braid provides high structural durability and effective low-frequency EMI shielding.

Environmental & Safety Ratings:

PLTC (Power Limited Tray Cable): Rated for secure installation within cable trays.

Oil Resistant: Specifically formulated jacket material to resist degradation from industrial oils and chemicals.

CM Rated: Suitable for general communications use in compliance with safety standards.

Impedance: Nominal characteristic impedance of 120 Ohms, strictly maintained to ensure proper termination and minimize reflections in RS-485 applications.

Primary Applications
Industrial Automation: Ideal for high-reliability Modbus/RS-485 communication between PLCs, variable frequency drives, and remote sensors in manufacturing environments.

Complex Data Networking: Used where multiple control signals or full-duplex communication pairs must be routed together through protected cable trays.

Harsh Plant Conditions: Engineered to withstand the rigors of factory floors, including potential exposure to machine lubricants and high-traffic areas.
